The Clemson Tigers have their work cut out for them if they hope to pull off what would be considered a fairly big upset in Week 1 of the 2026 college football season.
Clemson, ranked No. 23 in the US LBM Coaches Poll entering the season, faces No. 13 LSU at Tiger Stadium in Baton Rouge Saturday night.
It's the first of two SEC-ACC showdowns on the Week 1 card. No. 24 Louisville faces No. 10 Ole Miss in a neutral-site game Sunday at Nissan Stadium in Nashville.
Clemson-LSU is the game with all the hype and fanfare. It's Lane Kiffin's first game as LSU's coach after a messy split from Ole Miss and more recently, his efforts to bring former NFL players back into college football at LSU.
ESPN's "College GameDay" is giving Clemson-LSU its royal treatment
with a visit to Tiger Stadium, followed by the prime time 7:30 p.m. ET kickoff spot on ABC and its No. 1 broadcast crew.
Both the ACC's Tigers and SEC's Tigers are coming off disappointing 7-6 seasons a year ago that began with each team in the top-10 preseason rankings. They both have new starting quarterbacks, as well: former Arizona State gunslinger Sam Leavitt for LSU and junior Christopher Vizzina for Clemson.
LSU pulled out a 17-10 win at Clemson in last year's season opener at Memorial Stadium. What are Clemson's chances of pulling an upset in Baton Rouge to open the 2026 season?
