Clemson football's home opener is here. The Tigers will take the field against Georgia Southern at Memorial Stadium in Week 2 of the 2026 college football season Saturday night.
After a 41-point loss at LSU in the most lopsided defeat of Dabo Swinney's coaching career, Clemson will have to bounce back against a team from the same conference the Tigers struggled mightily to put away last year. That was the Troy Trojans, who Clemson eventually rallied to beat behind 24 unanswered points.
The Tigers will go against one of the oldest athletes in all of college sports on Saturday. Seventh-year college quarterback Max Johnson is with the Eagles this season after bouncing from LSU to Texas A&M to North Carolina and now Georgia Southern. He threw for
281 yards and completed 28 of his 39 passes in his new team's 31-0 win over Charleston Southern in Week 1.
Neither Christopher Vizzina or Tait Reynolds were inspiring in Clemson's 51-10 trouncing in Baton Rouge last week; Vizzina was 10-of-16 for 83 yards (5.2 yards per completion). Reynolds, a four-star freshman from Arizona, was 4-of-6 for 22 yards. Swinney said earlier in the week that both quarterbacks would play in Week 2. Here's how to watch Clemson-Georgia Southern.
