The Clemson Tigers learned their 2026-27 ACC men's basketball schedule Wednesday, and it features one glaring omission among the team's slate of conference opponents.
Clemson will not play the North Carolina Tar Heels during the upcoming season, either at home or in Chapel Hill. According to Clemson Athletics, it's the first time in over 75 years the Tigers and Tar Heels aren't scheduled to meet on the hardwood. The last time Clemson and North Carolina didn't meet was 1950-51.
The Tigers will instead face Stanford, California and SMU, the three newest members of the ACC. Clemson will meet longtime conference foes Duke, NC State, Virginia, Wake Forest, Georgia Tech and Florida State, in addition to Syracuse, Louisville and Pitt. Those last three schools
joined the ACC in 2013-14.
Coach Brad Brownell's team will open the regular season against Stetson on Nov. 2 at Littlejohn Coliseum.
Among marquee nonconference games, Clemson will face Auburn in the annual ACC/SEC Challenge on Dec. 1 at Littlejohn Coliseum, and Ole Miss, Washington or BYU among others participating in the Maui Invitational in Hawaii during Thanksgiving Week.
The Tigers host Georgetown on Nov. 13 after visiting the Hoyas last year in Washington. They'll travel to TCU on Dec. 12 and Cincinnati on Dec. 19. Clemson's annual matchup against rival South Carolina is set for Dec. 15 at Colonial Life Arena in Columbia.
Clemson finished 24-11 last season and reached the NCAA Tournament for the third consecutive year. The Tigers were a No. 8 seed and fell to the Iowa Hawkeyes, 67-61, in the first round of the tournament in Tampa, Florida.
