A familiar face will be on Clemson’s sideline Monday night, but there will be plenty of new names to follow when the Tigers take the floor. Seven newcomers join seven returning players as Brad Brownell opens his 17th season with a home matchup against Stetson.
Tipoff at Littlejohn Coliseum is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET on ACC Network Extra. Clemson enters as a heavy favorite, with the opener offering an initial look at how Brownell will put this roster together.
The transfer class gives the Tigers several experienced options. Dylan Faulkner arrives from Samford after averaging 17.2 points and 8.6 rebounds last season, while San Francisco transfer David Fuchs averaged 12.8 points and 7.9 boards.
Cole Certa brings another scoring option to the backcourt
after averaging 12.8 points at Notre Dame. Former TCU forward Liutauras Lelevicius, who averaged eight points and 3.4 rebounds, rounds out the four-player transfer group. Clemson also welcomes three freshmen.
Those additions join a returning group that includes Carter Welling and Ace Buckner. Welling averaged 10.2 points last season, with Buckner contributing 8.3 per game.
For Brownell, the ACC’s longest-tenured active head coach, the larger goal is extending a stretch of three consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances. Clemson followed its 2024 Elite Eight run with two more tournament berths, finishing last season 24-11 before falling to Iowa in the opening round.
That pursuit starts against the Hatters, with the Tigers looking to give their home crowd a season-opening victory.
