Clemson needs more from its offense over the second half of the season, and Tait Reynolds understands that improvement starts with his own development.
Taking over as the Tigers’ starting quarterback has given the freshman a larger voice within the team. It has also reinforced how much he still has to learn.
“I have a lot to learn, so I’m constantly trying to learn, pick things out, and try to get better,” Reynolds said.
Reynolds believes Clemson is nearing a breakthrough as it prepares to face Charleston Southern following its open date. Finding consistent production remains the challenge, but the confidence he has earned from his receivers gives the offense something to build on.
Bryant Wesco described Reynolds as a game changer after the Miami
loss. That endorsement followed months of work together, with Wesco, T.J. Moore and other offensive players helping the young quarterback settle into the program.
“We’re here all the time together watching tape and throwing and having a good time,” Reynolds said. “And it was really just easy for me to work so hard when these guys are helping me.”
Those sessions helped Reynolds develop relationships alongside his understanding of the offense. Since becoming the starter, he has continued spending extensive time at the facility studying and refining his game.

The routine suits a player who has long preferred a busy sports schedule. His baseball background reflects that same desire to keep competing, and he approaches breaks as opportunities to improve.
“I just love the work. I just love to play. I just can’t get enough of it,” Reynolds said.
Clemson now needs that preparation to carry onto the field. Reynolds remains confident the offense can take the next step.
“We’re right there, and we’re going to get there, and it’ll be good.”
