If the San Francisco 49ers and Seattle Seahawks game on Sunday felt like a playoff preview, it's because it more than likely is. The NFC West rivals met three times last year and again appear to be two of the conference's top teams in 2026. They engaged in serious regular season warfare in Week 5, with the 49ers winning in Seattle after losing twice last season, 32-29.
A new member of the rivalry, but hardly a stranger to the spotlight is San Francisco wideout Mike Evans. A key offseason acquisition, Evans balled out with seven catches for 113 yards and a score. With the rivalry heated and players going back and forth all game, it was no surprise that the future Hall of Famer got into it himself. But just like in catching the ball, Evans was head
and shoulders better than everyone in trash talking too.
Evans started on the receiving end of a Seahawks corner on one play, but quickly turned the tides, by turning the player around to identify who was coming for him. The hilarity is that it is a former league star, former Cowboys DB Trevon Diggs. Now in Seattle, Evans had no idea who was coming at him sideways.
Mike Evans had to check the back of Diggs’ jersey to see who was talking

Diggs signed to the Seahawks practice squad late this past summer and was added to their 53-man roster in season. He's a far ways off from the player he was prior to his knee injury a few years ago. Diggs was always a polarizing player for the Cowboys, but as one of the top interceptors of all time, it's wild to see how far he fell to Dallas releasing him midseason 2025. He latched on with the Green Bay Packers for a stretch, but they didn't keep him long either.
Now in Seattle with defensive coordinator Aden Durde (former Cowboys DL coach), Diggs has played 17 snaps over the last two games. Which makes Evans response even funnier (or sadder), having to figure out why a "random" Seahawks corner was barking at him. Diggs was apparently woofing like he was still the same caliber player he was while in Dallas; unideal.
