With the regular season finally underway, one would think that conversation about offseason trades and speculation would come to an end. Not so fast, my friend. ESPN rejuvenated the discussion surrounding Las Vegas Raiders edge rusher Maxx Crosby early on Sunday, revealing some more details about what transpired this spring.
After a failed physical nixed his trade to the Baltimore Ravens for two first-round picks, Crosby made a public statement about wanted to end trade discussions and speaking to his commitment to being a Raider for the upcoming season. That wasn't just all bluster, as he apparently told the Los Angeles Rams directly, and the Dallas Cowboys indirectly, to stop trying to trade for him.
Other teams were interested, but the Rams,
with their propensity to swing big, were the strongest club pushing for a deal, according to sources...
Sources said several teams came to the Raiders hoping to do a trade, but nothing even came remotely close because teams wanted "pennies on the dollars," according to one source.
In other words, those interested teams hoped Las Vegas was trying to dump Crosby for a cheap price, which was a nonstarter.
Other teams such as the Eagles, Cowboys, and 49ers were monitoring and interested.
The Cowboys, once Crosby was initially sent to the Ravens, turned their attention elsewhere and moved a future fourth-round pick to the Green Bay Packers for Rashan Gary, who will start on Sunday night opposite Donovan Ezeiruaku. The Rams of course turned their attention to Cleveland's Myles Garrett.
