The Dallas Cowboys' were in dire need of defensive help, and owner/GM Jerry Jones went out and got it. The club brought in cornerback Joey Porter Jr., a former second-round pick, via a trade with the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Porter had just a couple days of practice, but played a little more than a dozen snaps against the Houston Texans, only being tested once by QB CJ Stroud and not giving up any yardage. With a full plate expected for the star corner in Week 5, fans were shocked when he was suddenly ruled out with a stomach bug that is ravaging the DFW area. Feeling better, Porter was all set to again take on a full workload in Week 6 but now a new issue has popped up.
Will Porter play against the Green Bay Packers?
Porter rolled his ankle during
practice, limiting his work on Friday and giving him a questionable game designation from the organization in their final practice report for the team. The club could desperately use his presence, as the Packers found their deep passing game in Week 5, religiously testing the Chicago Bears secondary to their bevy of wideout options.
Vice president Stephen Jones has claimed that Porter is definitely going to play.
