Week 2's win over Washington saw the Dallas Cowboys settle in and stick with their offensive personnel, as all 11 starters on that side of the ball registered 60% or more of the snaps. Defensively, though, there was more of a rotation as a handful of players left the game early due to injury, some not to return.
No surprises on offense, with the five offensive line starters staying in for the entire contest. Luke Schoonmaker and Brevyn Spann-Ford continue to nearly match snaps and Hunter Luepke is still seeing decent usage as a blocker. For the second week in a row, KaVontae Turpin's offensive reps were very limited, with the team using Jonathan Mingo more frequently.
Safety P.J. Locke's day was cut short by a foot injury after just three defensive
plays. He was seen postgame in a walking boot but is not expected to have a long-term absence. Cornerback Cobie Durant was injured with just seconds to go in the first half and did not return. Linebacker Dee Winters also missed some reps in the second quarter.
Rookie Caleb Downs played every defensive snap on Sunday, while green-dot play-caller Jaishawn Barham was on the field for almost two-thirds of the unit's action. With Malik Hooker out and Locke down, Markquese Bell got 80% of the defensive snaps after playing only on special teams in Week 1. Shemar James saw additional time over last week due to the injuries. Von Miller saw his usage nearly double from Week 1.
Alijah Clark, Ameer Speed, and Justin Barron led all special teamers in snaps, with Curtis Robinson just behind. The latter two were game-day practice-squad elevations.
Here's a full look at the Cowboys' snap counts in Week 2.
These figures were distributed to the media shortly following the game and are subject to change after further film review.
