The Maxx-Crosby-to-Dallas buzz just got a little louder, all because of a backup tight end. First things first, the Cowboys are giving Brevyn Spann-Ford a big contract extension, perhaps signaling that former second-round draft pick Luke Schoonmaker is suddenly expendable in Dallas. But also, Schoonmaker missed practice Thursday. Add in all the cap space freed up by the Cowboys front office this week... and the fact that the Raiders are suddenly without their top tight end, Brock Bowers, and the dots are there to be connected regarding a potential blockbuster trade in the works. For now, however, they're just a few of the lead items in this look at today's headlines.
We'll also take a look at the historically long odds facing Dak Prescott in his 11th
season as Cowboys quarterback... and its accompanying Super Bowl quest. Also, good thing the Cowboys spurned those reported trade offers for T.J. Bass; we'll look at that plus a preview of Caleb Downs and Christian Parker prepping to make their regular-season debuts on Sunday.
Over in enemy territory, Giants wide receiver Malik Nabers says he'll be the one making the final decision on whether he's a go in Week 1, and Odell Beckham is throwing it back to his NYG glory days by bringing back his signature platinum locks. Jaxson Dart is still being taken to task for his reckless style of play, and the dawn of the John Harbaugh era is jacking ticket prices for Sunday's game through the proverbial roof.
In other league news, the Seahawks may have dodged a big-time bullet with their starting QB's health, but the Falcons could have a problem with theirs as the Cooper Rush Show may be coming to Atlanta. We'll look at A.J. Brown's latest injury, J.J. Watt points out NBC's dumping of PFF grades in player intros, and the real fallout from traveling to Australia may not hit the Rams and 49ers for another week. It turns out the 49ers asked for a scheduling favor that got denied... and given to the Rams instead.
