If Week 5's loss to Tampa Bay was an embarrassment for the Cowboys, their veritable no-show 10 days later against the Packers constitutes an existential crisis at The Star. The 23-13 defeat will likely cost the Cowboys their All-Pro kick returner for at least a week, it has sparked legitimate questions about Brian Schottenheimer's job security after just 23 games, and it might even trigger trade talk for a high-priced superstar if the losing streak extends any further.
This wrap-up of the day's headlines also provides key injury updates on Cobie Durant, Dee Winters, and DeMarvion Overshown... and we examine the only silver lining of this 2-4 start to the season: that the rest of the NFC East is also so bad that the Cowboys are still very much
in the thick of things.
The Packers, meanwhile, are reveling in their primetime win. It turns out their long opening-drive touchdown made a bit of football history, and they're expected to get running back Josh Jacobs back in the coming days. Micah Parsons may not be quite so lucky... but he'll soon be joined by one of his former Cowboys teammates as Green Bay prepares to sign Mazi Smith to help their ailing defense. And head coach Matt LaFleur had thoughts about how officials handled Sunday night's roughing the passer penalties.
Week 6 was a costly one for several NFL squads. The Commanders saw wide receiver Terry McLaurin carted off the field Monday night, the Rams have lost Davante Adams for six to 10 weeks, and even Steelers head coach Mike McCarthy went down with an ankle injury that kept him confined to the blue medical sideline tent for Pittsburgh's entire halftime on Sunday. Plus, the latest on Jalen Hurts and the blood clot issue that will now shelve him for the season... and how an impromptu demonstration in the booth may have put CBS play-by-play man Jim Nantz on the rehab list.
