The Dallas Cowboys are ready to begin their 2026 season, squaring off against their division rivals, the New York Giants. Hopefully things will go much better than they did this time last year, where the offense fell apart after a strong first half in a 24-20 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles. Dallas hopes to start off on the right foot this season.
To do so, they'd hoped to capitalize on a healthy roster, after keeping the majority of their key ingredients in bubble wrap over the preseason. Yet when they began their work this week, it was without star left tackle Tyler Smith, who will begin the year on Returnable IR. The club has yet to make it official, so he remains on the roster for now.
Dallas head coach Brian Schottenheimer seems extremely
pleased with the team's training camp performance, along with how they looked in two joint practices (vs Rams, Saints) and most of their three preseason games. The starters and key backups took the brunt of snaps in the practices, while the reserves took the field in the exhibitions.
Now, it all matters. 17 games are on deck starting with Sunday night, where the Cowboys are 3-point favorites to begin the week.
