With starter Jalen Hurts shelved indefinitely over a troubling blood clot diagnosis, the Eagles unsurprisingly went looking for a new quarterback to add to their mix.
They didn't look far, poaching a passer from right in their own division.
Philadelphia is signing Joe Milton away from the Cowboys practice squad, according to a Friday report from ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter. Milton had been with Dallas since April 2025 and made four game appearances as the primary backup to Dak Prescott before losing the QB2 job this summer to Sam Howell. The Cowboys waived Milton in late August and re-signed him to the practice squad prior to the start of the 2026 season.
Milton was originally a sixth-round draft pick in 2024, selected by the Patriots after
college stints with both Michigan and Tennessee. After sitting for most of his rookie season, Milton was electric for New England in that year's season finale, going 22-of-29 passing for 241 yards and two scores.
