There are plenty of stories about former Cowboys wide receiver Michael Irvin and his exploits during his playing days. It may seem like Netflix will give a show to anyone, but The White House documentary
showed just how chaotic the early 1990 Cowboys teams were. It only stands to reason there are far more stories to be told, but it's likely few can top the one Peter King recently revisited about the time he interviewed the Hall of Fame receiver at a strip club.During an appearance on the This is Football podcast with Kevin Clark, King reflected on his years covering the NFL for Sports Illustrated and the incredible access that came with the job. Among his favorite memories was his relationship with Irvin, who had a personality that was nearly
as big as the performance he delivered on the field.
King recalled first interviewing Irvin at length during the early 1990s, when the Cowboys were emerging as one of the NFL's premiere teams. Irvin apparently had a very specific idea of where the conversation should take place.
The only problems that Irvin's "office" wasn't exactly a conventional workplace. Irvin got in his car, took King to a strip club and proceeded to sit down for the interview. Rather than allowing the unusual surroundings to derail the conversation, King embraced the moment and conducted the interview.
Bad*sses with Peter King: Michael Irvin told Peter to meet him at his office to do an interview for an SI story.

It was a strip club.
"What are we doing here?" he asked.
"You came to my office." Irv said.

According to King, Irvin loved the entire situation. In typical Irvin fashion, he even joked that he now had something he could use against the veteran sportswriter.
The story is more than just an entertaining anecdote. It provides a glimpse into the unusual access reporters could have to NFL stars during the 1990s, particularly when covering team as colorful as the Cowboys.
King had previously written that the interview took place after Irvin spotted him during a Cowboys week and recognized that Sports Illustrated was in town. He remembered Irvin enthusiastically taking him to the club. King described the resulting interview as a great one, despite the unconventional setting.
For Cowboys fans who remember Irvin's playing days, the story may not come as a complete surprise. It was a different era in Dallas, and Irvin was one of its biggest personalities.
Sometimes, getting the story meant going wherever Micheal Irvin decided his "office" happened to be.
