The Dallas Cowboys have had one of the toughest stretches to start a season in recent memory, and it comes to it's conclusion on Thursday night. After having to play internationally in Week 3, a loss to the Baltimore Ravens
in Brazil, the team declined having an early bye week and traveled to the Houston Texans in Week 4. The NFL, seemingly upset at the club's denial, placed a Thursday night game into their Week 5 schedule. The run has exhausted the club, and the Cowboys now host the NFC South's Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Bucs are dealing with their own issues, primarily injury related and at the most important position.
Quarterback Baker Mayfield, who signed a three-year, $165 million extension before the beginning of the season, struggled out
the gate. He threw for just two touchdowns in the season's first three games while taking 13 sacks. He injured his thumb in Week 3's loss and missed Week 4.
Is he ready to go for Week 5?
Unfortunately for the Bucs' chances, he is not. The team ruled Mayfield out on Wednesday, meaning rookie Jalon Daniels will make his second straight start on Thursday night.
Daniels passed for just 148 yards in the club's Week 4 loss, dropping them to 0-4 on the season. Daniels threw one touchdown against two interceptions.
