When they lose, they lose. Even when they win, they lose. The New York Giants can't do anything but loathe the Dallas Cowboys at this point. They are a QB-jinxing bad omen waiting to happen.
As an organization, the Giants bookended Dak Prescott's sensational rookie-season run back in 2016, handing the young QB two losses around an 11-game winning streak. Since those two games, Prescott had won 14 straight against the Gotham Knights. It's been nothing but bad vibes for New York all due to one quarterback. Now, even when they seem to have discovered their own, the Cowboys once again mark misfortune.
Prescott's streak came close to ending in the first matchup of the two teams in 2025, but Dallas pulled out an amazing 40-37, Week 2 overtime victory.
Prescott was matched throw for throw from a resurgent Russell Wilson in that game, with the now-retired veteran passing for 450 yards and three scores. Only it was a mirage thanks to the putrid Matt Eberflus defense. The Giants eventually defeated Prescott later in the year, but it wasn't Wilson under center.
Wilson, who had looked horrible in Week 1, returned to looking horrible in Week 3 and was subsequently benched, never to start another game that season. Well, for much different reasons, the Giants 2026 starting quarterback will also only make one start following a sensational performance against the Cowboys.
Jaxson Dart, the 25th overall selection from 2025, took over for Wilson in Week 4 last year. He's been the starter since, including now being 2-0 against Prescott, but his current season is now officially over.
In his first series of Week 2, following a 230-yard, three TD passing performance with 54 additional yards on the ground in New York's 28-20 upset win, Dart was sandwiched on a tackle by the Los Angeles Rams.
The club had hope a prolonged issue had been avoided, but it's been announced that his season is over due to a serious knee injury that requires surgery.
