The Dallas Cowboys have made a couple of roster moves ahead of their Week 3 battle in Brazil against Baltimore. The club is as settled in as they will get, using Saturday to tour the field at Maracana Stadium in Rio, and hopefully they have a good plan for the manufactured surface after two weeks of concern. Injuries have marred the start of the Cowboys season, specifically in the secondary, and on Saturday they addressed one of the more serious.
With Cobie Durant (hamstring), Malik Hooker (forearm) and PJ Locke (foot) ruled out, three of the team's five starters are on the shelf. The club decided to move Locke to IR on Saturday, knocking him out through Week 7 for his plantar fasciitis. In a corresponding move, the team promoted LB Justin Barron
to the 53-man roster.
Clearly that's a move more centered around missing LB DeMarvion Overshown for this week's action, so the team had to make an elevation, bringing up Reddy Steward from the practice squad. The elevation of Steward raises the likelihood that first-round pick Caleb Downs is going to move to a predominantly safety role for this week's action. Steward is likely to man the slot for this contest.
