After a few dozen cuts on Sunday, adding in a couple reinforcements from the outside, and then assembling the beginnings of a practice squad, it's been a busy 48 hours or so for the Cowboys as they finalize the initial roster for the 2026 season.
But all indications point to them not being done.
The Cowboys were one of five teams to put in a waiver claim on former 49ers cornerback Darrell Luter on Monday, according to ESPN's Field Yates. Along with Dallas, the former fifth-round draft pick out of South Alabama drew interest from the Titans, Dolphins, Colts, and Raiders. Las Vegas had top priority by virtue of their 3-14 record, so the 26-year-old was awarded to the silver and black.
But the fact the Cowboys submitted a claim on Luter likely points
to a remaining need at the position in Dallas.

The Cowboys currently have DaRon Bland, Caelen Carson, Cobie Durant, Shavon Revel Jr., and Ameer Speed as their CB group. Rookie Devin Moore was placed on injured reserve with a designation to return, but he must now sit for a minimum of four games with a hip injury.
As part of their roster cuts on Sunday, the club waived Trikweze Bridges, Josh Butler, and Reddy Steward, and they released Derion Kendrick. Steward and Kendrick were brought back Monday to be on the practice squad. Steward was a five-game starter for Dallas last season and saw action in all 17 contests; Kendrick has 18 starts over four years of NFL service and appeared in 48 games with the Seahawks and Rams.
The Cowboys did make a successful waiver claim for running back Emari Demercado, but their attempt to land Luter suggests that they're still actively shopping for more secondary help before the start of the season.
