The NFL has announced its fines levied against players in Week 1, and three Cowboys are starting the season with a bite taken out of their game checks in addition to the 28-20 loss they suffered in New York.
Donovan Ezeiruaku, DeMarvion Overshown, and Javonte Williams will contribute a combined $33,409 for acts committed in Sunday's contest against the Giants
. No other team had as many players fined.Williams, as fully expected, was fined for unsportsmanlike conduct during his fourth-quarter touchdown catch-and-run. As he crossed the goal line with five and a half minutes to play, Williams held out the ball to a Giants defender and was flagged for taunting.
The infraction moved the Cowboys back 15 yards for the PAT attempt. Head coach Brian Schottenheimer
said afterward that his plan had been to try a two-point conversion in order to narrow the deficit to six points and then go for a walk-off touchdown win. Williams's taunting call changed that strategy dramatically by leaving Dallas eight points down when Brandon Aubrey missed the extra-long try.

Williams apologized to his teammates, calling his taunt "out of character" and vowing that he won't be celebrating future touchdowns.
The move cost Williams $11,941.
Overshown's fine was also fairly predictable. The linebacker laid out Giants quarterback Jaxson Dart after he had crossed the sideline at the end of a run just a few minutes into the game. Overshown was hit with a 15-yard unnecessary roughness call; in addition to Dart's 22-yard pickup, the play put New York on the doorstep of the red zone en route to their first touchdown of the night.
Overshown would not finish the game, exiting in the fourth quarter with a hamstring pull that will now keep him out for Week 2 and maybe longer.
The late hit will cost him $9,527.

Ezeiruaku was penalized 15 yards for a facemask grab just before the two-minute warning. That flag was the ninth of the game against Dallas. The unnecessary roughness judgment will take $11,941 out of his wallet.
The second-year outside linebacker also got hit with a facemask call and fine in 2025's regular-season finale against the Giants.
Cowboys players were fined a combined total of $303,000 last season for actions deemed flagrant by the NFL. Their combined $33,409 after just one week already leads all teams in 2026.
According to the league, fines collected are donated to the Professional Athletes Foundation to support Legends in need and the NFL Foundation to further support the health, safety and wellness of athletes across all levels, including youth football and the communities that support the game.
