When the Dallas Cowboys take the field against the Ravens on Sunday, they'll do so with growing confidence in the defenders stepping up for injured starters. Head coach Brian Schottenheimer used part of his press conference to praise Markquese Bell and Shavon Revel Jr. for the way they've responded to expanded roles following injuries to P.J. Locke and Cobie Durant. Schottenheimer believes the experience they gained against the Commanders will pay dividends when Dallas faces Baltimore in Rio.
The Cowboys will need it. Dallas already announced it will be without Locke, Durant, DeMarvion Overshown, and Revel Jr. on Sunday, leaving several key spots in the hands of younger, less experienced players.
The Cowboys would obviously prefer to have their
starters available, but their confidence now shifts to an athletic group of backups capable of making plays. If Dallas wants to slow Baltimore's physical rushing attack and leave Brazil with a win, those replacements will need to deliver on Sunday.
