Dallas Cowboys fans weren't the only people surprised to see Joe Milton clear waivers and return to the practice squad; Dak Prescott was too. Prescott would go on to praise Milton for the hard work he's put into getting better and how he makes the team better by having him back in the building. Now that Milton is back in the fold and the practice squad is set, Prescott and the rest of the team can prepare for their Week 1 opponents, the New York Giants.
The front office, however, is doing their own preparations for things to come. Thursday night brought about a flurry of contract triggers being pulled, opening up a lot of cap space. Is this a case of "it's better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it", or are they preparing
to make a big splash that requires a lot of cap space?
Back to starting to prep for the Giants, head coach Brian Schottenheimer made it clear: the Cowboys have opened their secret playbook. Schottenheimer and his coaching staff kept these offensive plays close to the vest, so players who left the team wouldn't be able to give tips on how to slow down the offense in Dallas. A smart move, but one that many other teams are doing as well, though it's still exciting to see what new wrinkles the Cowboys have added to an already explosive offense.
