No. 4 Tennessee (3-0) defeated Kennesaw State (1-2), 42-9, Saturday at Neyland Stadium. 101,915 were in attendance.
The Vols led, 21-3, at halftime.
Tennessee freshman quarterback Faizon Brandon completed 18-of-26 passing attempts for 178 yards and one passing touchdown. He also totaled 47 rushing yards and one touchdown on 11 attempts.
Daune Morris finished with 116 rushing yards and one touchdown on 14 attempts. DeSean Bishop and Hunter Barnes, a fifth-year player for the Vols, each recorded one rushing touchdown against the Owls.
Braylon Staley led Tennessee in receiving yards (59). He recorded four receptions, including one touchdown.
The Vols totaled 446 yards of total offense, including 268 yards rushing and 178 passing yards. Kennesaw State
finished with 291 yards of total offense, including 189 passing yards and 102 rushing yards.
Defensively for the Vols, Arion Carter totaled eight tackles, two tackles for a loss and one sack.
