UAB and associate vice president and director of athletics Mark Ingram agreed to part ways on Tuesday. UAB men's basketball head coach Andy Kennedy will serve as interim director of athletics.
Ingram was hired as the Blazers' director of athletics on May 1, 2015. He played long snapper at Tennessee from 1995-96.
"Mark has played an important role in the growth and evolution of UAB Athletics," UAB president Ray L. Watts said. "During his tenure, UAB athletics achieved significant milestones, including major facility investments, a successful transition to the American Conference, and continued support for our student-athletes and coaches.
"We are grateful for Mark's dedication to UAB and the impact he has made over the past 11 years, and we wish
him continued success in the years ahead."
Ingram also discussed parting ways with UAB.
"It has been an honor to serve UAB Athletics for the past 11 years," Ingram said. "I am proud of the accomplishments we achieved together and grateful for the relationships that made those successes possible. I wish everyone connected with UAB athletics great success in the future. I leave with tremendous pride in what we accomplished together."
Ingram completed a master’s degree in sports administration at Tennessee in 1997. He joined the Vols’ athletics department in 1998, serving as an assistant director of development.
From 2002-06, the former Vol was an assistant athletics director for development at Missouri and Georgia before returning to Tennessee in 2007 as senior associate athletics director.
During his time in the Vols’ athletics department, he helped with renovations across campus with responsibilities in raising money and working on design that included getting Charlie Anderson on board to build the Anderson Training Center with a $48 million contribution.
After leaving Tennessee, Ingram served as director of athletics at Temple from 2012 until being hired by UAB.
