No. 22 Tennessee (1-0) defeated Colgate (0-1), 25-17, 25-12, 25-12, Friday in a volleyball season opener for both schools at Food City Center.
The match was played before a record crowd of 7,924 and marked a third consecutive season the Lady Vols have set an attendance record. The previous attendance record was 7,654, set in 2025.
SophomoreKennedi Rogers, an outside hitter and a SMU transfer, recorded a double-double for the Lady Vols. She totaled 14 kills, 10 digs and one service ace. Jalyn Stout recorded 13 kills, seven digs and three blocks, while setter Caroline Kerrfinished with 37 assists, five digs, four blocks and three aces.
Tennessee libero Raegan Burns played in her first match at Tennessee and had a team-high 11 digs. She also totaled
four assists. Chelsea Sutton led the team with five blocks for the Lady Vols, who totaled a .461 hitting percentage, 49 kills, eight errors and 89 total attacks.
Hannah Langton also had 10 digs for Tennessee.
The Lady Vols will play two matches at Food City Center on Saturday against Morehead State at 1 p.m. EDT. Tennessee will face Fairfield at 6 p.m. EDT. Both matches can be watched SEC Network+.
