What is the story about?

Former Tennessee defensive back William Wright signed with Chicago during NFL training camp on Aug. 8.

The Bears also signed defensive back Brandon Hill, while waiving defensive backs K.C. Eziomume and Gervarrius Owens with an injury designation.

Chicago held a tryout for Wright, Hill, Beanie Bishop, Isaiah Bolden, Jaylen Mahoney, Michael Ojemudia, Deantre Prince, Eli Ricks and D.Q. Smith on Aug. 7.

Wright played for the Vols from 2020-25 and appeared in 45 games. He totaled 28 tackles, two interceptions, three pass deflections, one touchdown and 26 kick return yards.

In 2025, Wright played in 13 games, including one start. His first career start was in the final game of his career during the Music City Bowl versus Illinois. Wright returned an interception

35 yards against New Mexico State on Nov. 15, 2025.

The Bears will play their first preseason game on Saturday versus Cleveland. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. EDT at Soldier Field in Chicago, Illinois.
