Pittsburgh (1-1) completed its second week in the NFL preseason. The Steelers lost, 17-0, to the Jets (1-1) on Aug. 21 at Acrisure Stadium in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
According to Sunday's NFL transactions, Pittsburgh held a tryout for three defensive backs after the contest, including former Vol Dee Williams.
Jaylon Guilbeau (Texas) and Eli Ricks (Alabama) also worked out with the Steelers.
Williams has worked out with Washington on Aug. 1, the Giants on Aug. 4 and Miami on Aug. 10 during the preseason. He played for the Vols from 2022-23 and appeared in 22 games.
Williams recorded seven tackles, one forced fumble, two receptions, 10 receiving yards, 35 punt returns, 540 punt return yards, two punt return touchdowns, 13 kick returns and 274 kick return yards at
Tennessee.
He averaged a school record 15.4 yards per punt return, breaking a previous Tennessee mark held by Burt Rechichar (1949-51).
Pittsburgh will play its final preseason game on Thursday at Buffalo (2-0). Kickoff between the Steelers and Bills is scheduled for 7 p.m. EDT at Highmark Stadium in Orchard Park, New York.
