Tennessee junior defensive back Edrees Farooq suffered a leg injury in practice during fall training camp on Friday. He was also transported to UT Medical Center.
On Saturday, Tennessee released a statement on Farooq's injury.
"Tennessee junior safety Edrees Farooq suffered a season-ending torn patellar tendon in his right knee at practice on Friday morning," Tennessee announced. "We stand with Edrees and support him as he begins the recovery process. We know he will continue to make a strong leadership impact on our team this fall."
The 6-foot, 202-pound safety appeared in 26 games, including 13 starts, for the Vols from 2024-25. He has totaled 89 tackles, one tackle for a loss, two interceptions, five pass deflections, four forced fumbles and
one fumble recovery during his collegiate career.
Farooq returned an interception 45 yards for a touchdown at Kentucky on Oct. 25, 2025. His career high for tackles in a game is 10 against Oklahoma on Nov. 1, 2025.
