The NFL draft will take place April 29 through May 1, 2027 at the National Mall in Washington, D.C.
Mike Renner of CBS Sports released the top 150 prospects for the NFL draft in 2027. He ranked Tennessee junior defensive lineman Xavier Gilliam as the No. 6 overall player.
"Gilliam's breakout season reminds me a little of Byron Murphy's back in 2023," Renner said. "Not only because they share similar body types and athletic ability, but also because they went from unheralded prospects to superstars seemingly overnight.
"Gilliam has been an absolute handful this season - even in the past three weeks of SEC play. His low center of gravity combined with tremendous bend and explosiveness makes him nearly impossible to keep out of the backfield."
The
6-foot-2, 305-pound Gilliam has recorded 22 tackles, 10 tackles for a loss, five sacks, one pass deflection, two forced fumbles and one fumble recovery through six games at Tennessee in 2026.
