Senior running back Hollywood Smothers is in his first season at Texas. He transferred to the Longhorns after playing two seasons at North Carolina State (2024-25) and one year at Oklahoma (2023).
The 5-foot-11, 196-pound running back will play against Tennessee for a second time during his collegiate career on Saturday.
Smothers faced the Vols in the 2024 Duke’s Mayo Classic. Tennessee defeated the Wolfpack, 51-10, at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, North Carolina on Sept. 7, 2024.
Smothers recorded 25 rushing yards on six attempts. His longest rushing attempt was 15 yards. Smothers also totaled three receptions for one yard, while returning one kick for two yards.

4 at Neyland Stadium. Kickoff between the Vols and Longhorns is slated for noon EDT (ABC). Rankings reflect the US LBM Coaches Poll.
Smothers enters Texas' SEC opener with 198 rushing yards and two touchdowns on 41 attempts. He has also recorded seven receptions for 54 yards and one touchdown. The senior has returned one kick for 19 yards in 2026.
Against Ohio State on Sept. 12 in a, 24-23, win, Smothers totaled 74 rushing yards and two touchdowns on 21 attempts. He also recorded two receptions for 15 yards.
