New Orleans announced the signing of free agent wide receiver Cedric Tillman to its NFL practice squad on Tuesday. The Saints also signed tight end Stone Smartt to their practice squad.
Tillman was waived by the Browns on Aug. 27 after claiming cornerback Mekhi Blackmon off waivers.
He played at Tennessee from 2018-22, recording 109 receptions, 1,622 yards, 17 touchdowns and averaged 14.9 yards per reception.
The former Vol was selected by the Browns in the third round of the NFL draft in 2023 (No. 74 overall).
Tillman played in 38 games, including 19 starts, at Cleveland from 2023-25. He recorded 71 receptions (132 targets) for 833 yards and five touchdowns.
New Orleans will open its 2026 regular season on Sept. 13 versus Detroit. The season opener
between the Lions and Saints is slated for 1 p.m. EDT at Ford Field in Detroit, Michigan (Fox).
Cleveland will kick off its 2026 regular season on Sept. 13 at Jacksonville. The Week 1 contest is slated for 1 p.m. EDT at EverBank Stadium in Jacksonville, Florida (CBS).
