Jacksonville concluded its NFL preseason with a 2-1 record.
Jacksonville will kick off its regular season on Sept. 13 against Cleveland. Kickoff between the Jaguars and Browns is slated for 1 p.m. EDT at EverBank Stadium in Jacksonville, Florida (CBS).
The NFL 53-man roster deadline is Sunday at 6 p.m. EDT.
Ahead of the deadline, former Tennessee quarterback Joey Aguilar is expected to be released by Jacksonville, according to Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.
"Jaguars are waiving quarterback Joey Aguilar with hopes of him returning to the practice squad, per source," Fowler announced on Sunday.
On Aug. 28 in Jacksonville's final preseason game against Tampa Bay, Aguilar completed 7-of-9 passing attempts for 57 yards. He was sacked two times for 21 yards and
finished with a 93.1 quarterback rating. Aguilar also had one rushing attempt for zero yards.
He played at Tennessee in 2025. The former Vol finished behind two SEC quarterbacks for passing yards during the 2025 season: Trinidad Chambliss of Ole Miss (3,937 yards, 15 games) and Ty Simpson of Alabama (3,567 yards, 15 games).
