Josh Heupel will face Texas on Saturday for the first time since 2014. As a player and assistant coach, he has an 8-5 record against the Longhorns.

Heupel will face Texas for the first time as a head coach. He was 1-1 against the Longhorns as Oklahoma's quarterback, losing, 38-28, on Oct. 09, 1999 and winning, 63-14, on Oct. 7, 2000.

Heupel was also 7-4 against Texas as an assistant coach at Oklahoma, winning contests in 2003-04, 2007, 2010-12 and 2014, while losing games in 2006, 2008-09 and 2013.

He served as offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at Missouri in 2017. Heupel did not coach the Tigers in the Texas Bowl against the Longhorns on Dec. 27, 2017. He was hired as UCF's head coach on Dec. 5, 2017.

Kickoff between No. 13 Tennessee

(3-0) and No. 1 Texas (3-0) is slated for noon EDT at Neyland Stadium (ABC).

"Our fans always show up in a great way," Heupel said Monday about the Tennessee-Texas game. "We're starting conference play. Expect them to be at their best Saturday, 12 o'clock when the ball is teed up. It should be a great contest."
