Detroit signed defensive lineman Tyre West to its NFL practice squad on Monday. He was waived by the Lions on Sunday following the preseason.
Detroit also signed quarterback Luke Altmyer, linebacker Joe Bachie, defensive back Aamaris Brown, offensive lineman Devin Cochran, tight end Thomas Gordon, wide receiver Lucky Jackson, wide receiver Tom Kennedy, edge Anthony Lucas, guard Mason Miller, linebacker Amen Ogbongbemiga, defensive lineman Chris Smith, defensive lineman Ben Stille and cornerback Nick Whiteside to its practice squad.
West was selected by the Lions in the seventh round of the NFL draft in April (No. 222 overall). He played at Tennessee from 2022-25. In 48 games, including five starts, West recorded 65 tackles, 20.5 tackles for a loss,
10 sacks, two forced fumbles and one safety.
Detroit will kick off its 2026 NFL regular season on Sept. 13 versus New Orleans. The season opener between the Lions and Saints is slated for 1 p.m. EDT at Ford Field in Detroit, Michigan (Fox).
