Miami held a tryout for five defensive backs on Monday during NFL training camp, including former Vol Dee Williams.
Quendell Johnson (Memphis), Nick McCloud (Notre Dame), T.J. Moore (Mercer) and Sam Webb (Missouri Western) also worked out with the Dolphins, according to NFL transactions.
Miami signed McCloud, placed kicker Zane Gonzalez on the injured reserve list and waived running back Anthony Hankerson on Monday.
Williams also had a tryout with Washington on Aug. 1 and the Giants on Aug. 4. He played at Tennessee from 2022-23 and appeared in 22 games.
Williams recorded seven tackles, one forced fumble, two receptions, 10 receiving yards, 35 punt returns, 540 punt return yards, two punt return touchdowns, 13 kick returns and 274 kick return yards for the
Vols.
He averaged a school record 15.4 yards per punt return, breaking a previous Tennessee mark held by Burt Rechichar (1949-51).
