No. 13 Tennessee (3-0) will renew its football series with No. 1 Texas (3-0) on Saturday at Neyland Stadium (noon EDT, ABC).

Tennessee's only victory in the series was during the 1951 Cotton Bowl in Dallas, Texas.

The Vols (11-1, 4-1 SEC) won, 20-14, on Jan. 1, 1951, at Cotton Bowl in Dallas, Texas.

Tennessee won its final 10 games of the season and was named national champion by Billingsley, DeVold, Dunkel, CFRA and NCF. The Vols were co-national champions by Sagarin.

Tennessee led, 7-0, after Herky Payne completed a 5-yard touchdown pass to John Gruble, the scoring play was after a 75-yard run by Hank Lauricella.

The Longhorns scored two touchdowns in the second quarter and led, 14-7, at halftime.

Andy Kozar scored two rushing touchdowns in the

fourth quarter for Tennessee.

Kozar, Lauricella and defensive end Horace Sherrod shared MVP honors for the Vols. Texas guard Bud McFadin was also named MVP.
