Expectations for the Michigan football offense may be rising, given what several entities within the program are saying during fall camp.
On Monday, head coach Kyle Whittingham noted that the passing offense has taken the biggest step of any part of the team from spring to now. And on Friday, wide receiver Andrew Marsh said that the feeling within the program is rising with each practice.
"Vibes is high," Marsh said. "I would say guys flying around, practices look fast. Really, everybody just happy to be back out there."
So, what does this new-look offense under offensive coordinator Jason Beck look like? Last year, the Utah offense took a massive step forward, from No. 115 in the country in total offense to fourth overall.
While that would a lofty
rise to replicate, it appears that the Wolverines offense is making big strides in camp. Marsh detailed a bit more about how different it is.
"Explosive, I would say," Marsh said. "That's kind of like the first thing that comes to my mind whenever I think about our offense this year. Really just the ability to spread the ball around, go from run to pass. It's going to be crazy."
After Marsh shared that wide receiver JJ Buchanan is 'somebody who can help stretch the field,' he noted that there are multiple other players within the room that are stepping up in a big way. From Texas transfer Jaime Ffrench to true freshmen Salesi Moa and Travis Johnson, the group has more help than they've perhaps had in several years.
"Really everybody. Everybody's been going in the room, I would say," Marsh said. "I feel like everybody's really just been stepping their game up. A lot of the young guys, Ffrench, Salesi, Travis, even a lot of the guys that are turning channels, (Kendrick Bell) and stuff like that."
Practice is continuing through August 31, when Michigan football will switch to game week in preparation for the Week 1 game against Western Michigan at The Big House.
