The first sure sign that the college football season is fast approaching is that conference media days take place. The next, which happens somewhat concurrently with fall camps starting, is the reveal of the weekly polls.
One of the surest polls is the US LBM Coaches Poll, which surveys the coaches around the sport for their opinions on who will be the best of the best in the sport. To close out last season, Michigan football finished at No. 22 overall in the eyes of the coaches, despite having lost four games -- at Oklahoma, at USC, vs. Ohio State, and vs. Texas in the Citrus Bowl. Now, with Kyle Whittingham at the helm, the Wolverines came in ranked No. 16 according to the coaches.
The schedule is particularly difficult, with games against No.
9 Oklahoma in Week 2, No. 22 Iowa, No. 17 Penn State, No. 6 Indiana, No. 2 Oregon, and No. 1 Ohio State to close out the regular season.
