Michigan football has one of the hardest schedules in college football in 2026, and it's been set to be just as tough in 2027. The Wolverines were set to close out their home-and-home with Texas after hosting the Longhorns in 2024, but it appears that, at the very least, that game might be shifting.
FB Schedules got an update showing that the home game in 2027 against Eastern Michigan that was slated for September 18 has been shifted to September 11, which was the date that the maize and blue were slated to go to Austin. There has been no announcement or indication if the game is or isn't happening still.

There is a $2 million penalty should the game be canceled
if it's not consensual between the programs. But given that the Wolverines still have to play Ohio State, Oregon, at Penn State, at Indiana, and at Iowa next year, losing the Texas game from the schedule could be a benefit for Michigan's College Football Playoff hopes, given that it would figure in one fewer marquee game amongst the five that are already on the docket.
Michigan has played Texas three times in program history -- all three being losses. The first came in the Rose Bowl following the 2004 season, then in 2024 at The Big House. The most recent loss came in the Cheez-It Citrus Bowl just this past season on New Year's Eve.
