NASCAR is returning to San Diego. On Tuesday, NASCAR announced that it will return to San Diego for a second straight season in 2027. However, the NASCAR Cup and O'Reilly Series will be the only levels racing during the weekend. The NASCAR Truck Series will not be competing.
The sport will go to San Diego from July 30 to August 1, which is later than the 2026 season. The first weekend in San Diego produced exciting racing, big crashes, and some minor issues with the track. During the O'Reilly Series race, a manhole cover came loose and damaged Corey Day's car, while the walls were damaged from big incidents.
While the action on-track was thrilling, this gives NASCAR and San Diego some time to fine-tune things going into the second event. San Diego was one
of the most popular weekends of the 2026 campaign to this point, so its return to the schedule creates much excitement from the garage and fanase.
