Chandler Smith recovered from an early penalty to finish sixth in Saturday’s Race to Stop Suicide 200 at Kansas Speedway. Smith started 15th in the No. 38 Front Row Motorsports Ford and faced additional work after an incident on pit road.
NASCAR sent Smith to the rear for vehicle interference after contact involving a tire from Brent Crews’ stall. Despite losing track position, Smith methodically worked back through the field during the remainder of the race. He stayed clear of the late tire issues that hurt several other Chase drivers and crossed the line sixth, collecting 31 points despite failing to score in either stage.
Smith remains third in the Chase standings with 2,126 points. His deficit to Kaden Honeycutt grew to 71 points following
Honeycutt’s dominant victory, but Smith remains firmly among the leading contenders and holds a one-point advantage over fourth-place Gio Ruggiero.
