Kris Wright experienced a frustrating afternoon in Friday's Love's RV Stop 225 at Talladega Superspeedway, finishing 32nd after being collected in the first major accident. The McAnally-Hilgemann Racing driver qualified 12th and entered the event hoping to capitalize on a strong starting position.
Wright initially remained competitive in his No. 81 Chevrolet as the field worked through an opening stage featuring intense drafting competition. However, his opportunity to secure a strong finish ended on Lap 17 when Stewart Friesen became unstable while racing through Turns 1 and 2.
The resulting accident collected eight trucks, including Wright, who sustained a significant impact during the incident. His Chevrolet suffered extensive damage that prevented
him from continuing, ending his afternoon after just 16 completed laps.
The crash forced NASCAR to temporarily stop the race and ultimately brought the opening stage to an early conclusion. Wright was officially credited with 32nd place, earning just five points from the event. The disappointing result limited his opportunity to improve his position in the overall NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series standings. Wright remains 24th with 248 points, sitting 33 ahead of Frankie Muniz.
With Martinsville and Homestead-Miami remaining, Wright will attempt to rebound and secure stronger results during the final two races.
