Josh Berry’s promising starting position disappeared after he was collected in the race’s biggest accident Sunday at Kansas Speedway. Berry began 10th in the No. 21 Wood Brothers Racing Ford.
The afternoon changed during the Lap 121 restart when contact between Carson Hocevar and Ty Gibbs triggered a multicar crash. Berry was caught in the incident and required extensive repairs, costing him multiple laps. He continued racing but completed only 257 circuits and finished 10 laps behind Kyle Larson.
Berry received two points for the 35th-place finish. He is not part of the Chase, so the poor points day does not affect the championship battle but does hurt his overall season standing. After starting inside the top 10, Kansas became a lost opportunity
through circumstances centered around one chaotic restart.
