Ryan Preece converted a ninth-place starting position into a 10th-place finish Sunday at Kansas Speedway. The RFK Racing driver spent much of the afternoon near the edge of the top 10 and avoided the race’s biggest trouble spots.
Preece narrowly escaped the multicar crash that developed on the Lap 121 restart, allowing the No. 60 Ford to remain clean while several nearby competitors required repairs. He stayed on the lead lap through the final stage and secured the final position inside the top 10.
Preece earned 27 points but remains buried in the Chase standings after four postseason races. He sits 14th with 2,109 points, 173 behind Kyle Larson. The Kansas top 10 prevented additional damage, but Preece needs victories or significantly larger
points days over the final six races to meaningfully reduce the championship deficit.
