Corey Heim has been one of NASCAR's best stories during the 2026 season. After winning the 2025 NASCAR Truck Series championship, Heim didn't have a full-time ride for 2026, focusing on his Cup Series future. The 23XI Racing driver won in San Diego and Indianapolis; however, will he compete for Rookie of the Year in 2027?
NASCAR has decided that Heim won't be eligible for the Rookie of the Year award in 2027, as reported by Mike Forde on Hauler Talk. The limit for the Cup Series is 12 starts, and Heim already sits at 15 with more on the way. Heim isn't eligible for the award in 2026 because he didn't apply before the season.
Even if Heim isn't eligible to win Rookie of the Year in 2026 or 2027, it is very clear that he would deserve the honor.
The 23XI Racing driver won two races in 2026, and he should be successful next year. Heim will simply focus on winning races and making the Chase with 23XI Racing next season.
