Austin Hill finished 26th in his Cup Series appearance Sunday at Kansas Speedway. Driving the No. 33 Richard Childress Racing Chevrolet, Hill started 32nd and gained six positions over the course of the 267-lap event.
Hill avoided the major accidents and completed 266 laps, finishing one circuit behind Kyle Larson. The race gave the full-time lower-series competitor another opportunity to gain experience in Cup equipment on a 1.5-mile track.
Because Hill was designated as an ineligible driver for Cup Series points, he received zero championship points despite finishing 26th. He is also not part of the Chase field. The Kansas appearance was therefore focused primarily on experience and team development rather than points accumulation, with Hill bringing
the car home intact after starting deep in the field.
