Stewart Friesen’s Kansas afternoon went backward after a promising start, with the veteran finishing 21st after beginning sixth. Friesen initially showed enough pace to remain near the front during the opening portion of the event.
The No. 52 Toyota ran third early as Kaden Honeycutt took command of the race, but Friesen gradually lost track position as the stages progressed. He remained on the lead lap and avoided the incidents that affected several other competitors, yet was unable to recover the early speed. Friesen ultimately lost 15 positions and scored 16 points.
Friesen did not qualify for the Chase and remains 12th in the season standings with 465 points. He trails Jake Garcia by 36 points and maintains a 53-point advantage over Justin
Haley. Kansas did not threaten his non-Chase points position, but it represented a missed opportunity after starting inside the third row.
