Brenden Queen overcame significant adversity during Friday's Black's Tire 200 at Martinsville Speedway, finishing 12th after being involved in a major accident. The Kaulig Racing rookie qualified 20th but was required to start at the rear following unapproved adjustments to his No. 12 Ram.
Queen spent the opening stages attempting to advance through the field while Layne Riggs controlled the front of the race. His afternoon became more promising as he worked toward the top 20 during the middle portion of the event.
However, Queen's race changed dramatically on Lap 118 when a multicar accident erupted in Turns 3 and 4. The incident collected several Kaulig Racing teammates, including Justin Haley and Corey LaJoie, and caused significant damage
to Queen's truck.
Despite sustaining heavy left-front damage, Queen's team managed to keep the No. 12 Ram competitive. He continued battling through the final stage and avoided additional race-ending incidents during the closing restarts.
Queen ultimately finished 12th, completing all 200 laps and earning 25 points. The performance helped him climb one position to 14th in the overall NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series standings with 497 points. He will attempt to finish his rookie campaign strongly at Homestead-Miami Speedway.
