Parker Retzlaff enters Las Vegas 10th in the O’Reilly Auto Parts Series Chase with 2,124 points. The Viking Motorsports driver sits 111 points behind Sheldon Creed, but his first postseason appearance has remained relatively steady through the opening three races.
Retzlaff recorded an eighth-place finish at Bristol after surviving a hectic final portion of the race. He was involved in close racing with Corey Day and Ryan Sieg shortly before Sieg crashed, but the No. 99 Chevrolet made it through and secured another valuable top-10 result. Retzlaff is only five points behind Austin Hill and seven behind Taylor Gray.
The 23-year-old also produced a solid result in the spring Las Vegas event, finishing 12th and scoring 25 points. Retzlaff will need
more than consistency to substantially reduce the championship gap, but the standings directly ahead remain tightly packed. Only 19 points separate him from sixth-place Corey Day entering Saturday night’s race.
