Corey Heim returned to the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series with a solid 10th-place finish in Friday's Love's RV Stop 225 at Talladega Superspeedway. The defending series champion started eighth in his Tricon Garage Toyota and overcame an early tire problem to secure another top-10 result.
Heim initially demonstrated competitive speed, finishing fourth in Stage 1 and collecting valuable stage points. However, his afternoon became more difficult during Stage 2 when he suffered a flat tire on Lap 25. The unscheduled pit stop cost Heim valuable track position, forcing him to spend much of the remaining race attempting to recover.
Despite the setback, Heim remained competitive and avoided the severe damage that eliminated several contenders. The closing
stages featured multiple accidents, providing opportunities for drivers who remained on track to improve their finishing positions.
Heim capitalized on those circumstances and returned to the top 10 during the final portion of the event. He ultimately finished 10th, completing all 86 laps and earning 34 points. The performance represented another solid result during Heim's part-time Truck Series schedule, which has included three victories in eight starts this season.
He will look to continue delivering strong performances whenever additional Truck Series opportunities arise.
