Chris Buescher endured a difficult Kansas afternoon and finished 23rd after starting 12th. The RFK Racing driver entered the race needing a strong performance to reduce an already sizable championship deficit.
Buescher was 14th at the end of Stage 1 but never found the pace necessary to join the front-running Chase contenders. The No. 17 Ford gradually slipped backward and eventually fell one lap behind Kyle Larson before the checkered flag.
Buescher scored only 14 points and now sits 15th in the Chase standings with 2,096 points, 186 behind Larson. Only Daniel Suárez trails him among the 16 championship contenders. With six races left, Buescher’s title path has narrowed considerably after losing 62 points to Larson at Kansas alone.
